The Daily Telegraph presents The CRUISE Show, 27-28 March 2010, Olympia, London
What’s your idea of the perfect cruise?
Sailing the South Pacific on a tall ship? A tranquil river cruise through forested valleys? An expedition to Antarctica aboard an ice breaker? A fun-filled sunshine holiday in the Caribbean? Exploring the Ganges in a traditional steamer? The ultimate spa break?
Whatever you have in mind, check out The CRUISE Show, the UK’s only travel exhibition dedicated to cruising. All the major and specialist cruise lines will be on hand, offering inspiration, information and practical advice to help you find your ideal holiday at sea.
You’ll learn that cruises come in all shapes and sizes: from Med mini-breaks taking in Barcelona and Ibiza, to 57-day journeys from Southampton to Sydney. You’ll find out about every different cruise ship imaginable, from resort-style ships that contain climbing walls and ice rinks, to smaller more intimate vessels that carry a handful of passengers and everything else in between.
The show will open your eyes to a huge range of unusual destinations including Russia, Alaska, the Norwegian fjords, the Amazon and the Middle East. For the most adventurous there are expedition cruises to the Polar Regions or the Galapagos Island, and wildlife cruises that offer whale-watching in the Sea of Cortez or penguins in the Falklands.
Or for something really unusual, how about travelling by boat to the World Cup in Cape Town on a working Royal Mail ship – even staying on-board to cut out the hassle of booking hotels? Or travel to the Cannes Film Festival on a tall ship, stopping off at the Monaco Grand Prix along the way. Or cruise in to Venice just in time for the Redentore Festival which features hundreds of colourful boats, gondola races and spectacular fireworks.
There will be a packed programme of talks, lectures and Q&A sessions led by industry experts and journalists who will be offering impartial advice and passing on their hot tips for the next big thing in cruising.
