EC&O Venues statement on TfL's proposed District Line changes

EC&O opposes TfL’s proposals to cancel the weekday District Line service to Olympia from December 2011, and we have urged them to reconsider their decision. We have been in constant dialogue with TfL on the matter, and we are currently in discussion about a range of mitigating measures that must be implemented if they choose to go ahead with these plans. We are encouraged to hear that TfL will increase the number of Overground trains to Olympia and we are pressing them to commit to ensuring that the other excellent transport links to Olympia are enhanced and improved.

Whilst we oppose TfL’s proposals to reduce the service to Olympia, we are confident that the Olympia business will continue to grow. A £25 million investment programme is underway to expand our capacity by reconfiguring the space, and EC&O is currently undertaking building works to three Exhibition Halls to create smarter, more effective exhibition space, to be completed by February 2012.
