
The countdown to Christmas officially begins with lights, celebrities, decorations, and entertainment at this year’s Ideal Home Show at Christmas.
Held over five days from the 16th-20th November 2011, at London’s Earls Court, the Ideal Home Show at Christmas will be the largest home event this winter, full of ideas, inspiration and advice on everything you need to get organised and make your home ideal for Christmas.
On Wednesday the 16th November the show will open its door to visitors with celebrity Ambassadors Gizzi Erskine, Gino D’Acampo and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, followed by a celebrity switch on of the indoor Christmas tree lights, sponsored by Philips.
Visitors will be able to plan and organise their complete Christmas all under one roof at the Ideal Home Show at Christmas with our quick guide to what not to miss!
1. De-clutter your Christmas: Expert life organiser Carmen Corker of ClutterBugs will be offering expert advice on how to organise and create a stress free, mess free Christmas so you can plan, organise and stay ahead this year.
2. Finish those Last Minute DIY projects: As the family descends on your home it’s time to stop putting off those nagging DIY projects and get around to finishing the spare room, fixing the shower or installing a bigger oven, this year’s show has everything you need to complete your home and a variety of tips and expert advice for all of those last minute DIY projects.
3. Deck the Halls: Adopt a Christmas tree this year in our Christmas Tree Forest supplied by The Little Tree Company who hire out specially grown and pruned potted Christmas Trees that are delivered directly to your door for the price of a cut tree. There will also be a variety of help and advice including practical demonstrations on Tree Decorating and table setting tips and trends, as well as wreath and flowers design demonstrations from our How to Theatre sponsored by Bosch, as well as a series of inspiring room sets.
4. Find the perfect gift: No Christmas would be complete without the latest toys and gadgets to play with and with a selection of the very latest products set to be hot property this Christmas; you’ll find everything you need in the Ideal Gadgets & Gizmos interactive Technology Zone, sponsored by Sky.
5. Shop until you Drop: Shoppers who want to stock up on festive goodies will be able to pour over the 500 exhibitors at the show, offering the latest in home improvements, interiors, furnishings and more Gadgets, shopping and gifts for all the family.
6. Keep warm this winter & Save Money: Oliver Heath and how to create a ‘Green Home for Christmas’, where he explores the many ways you can make your home a warmer, better, greener place to be this Christmas, with money and energy saving tips that will last all year!
7. Tickle Your Taste buds: Planning your traditional Christmas lunch couldn’t be easier as Gino D’Acampo will be on hand offering a variety of Christmas culinary delights in the Ideal Food & Drink section. Gino will show you how you can use Italian ingredients to create the perfect Christmas dinner with a little Italian flair.
8. Christmas Survival: Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen will be encouraging adults to rediscover and reclaim a bit of Christmas for themselves this year, and showing visitors how they can make more time for each other this Christmas and will be celebrating ‘adult spaces only.
9. Wrap up Christmas: Creative gift wrapping can really enhance your presents and make inexpensive simple gifts extra special. This year’s show will offer step-by-step hands on demonstrations of how to make the perfect presents this year.
10. Recycle Christmas: Once it’s all over what better way than to Stewart Walton will be demonstrating a range of beautiful and easy to replicate Christmas build projects made using recycled wood including pallets and other scrap.
Celebrations will continue with a variety of entertainment and performers in the central Bandstand With a huge selection of musical styles from internationally acclaimed Choirs to West End Casts such as The Jersey Boys, make sure you stop off at the Bandstand, located within the 1001 Tree maze to enjoy fantastic performances throughout the show to mark the start of the Christmas season.
Thursday 17th will also be the official late night Night opening until 9pm for visitors to enjoy the first late night shopping experience in London so far this year.
There will also be celebrity guests including; Gino D’Acampo, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Suzi Perry and Olly Smith offering top tips and advice throughout the show, as well as experts in our ‘How to’ Theatre sponsored by Bosch Power Tools, who will be on hand with ideas and inspiration on all of your home improvement and interior needs to prepare your home for that crucial Christmas deadline.
