Event: Marks and Spencer Head Office Conference
Delegates: 3000
Venue: Brompton Hall, Earls Court
Agency: Fresh

Brief
Marks & Spencer wanted to reward their staff for loyal service in tricky trading conditions, whilst also drawing attention to a new CSR initiative and ethical trading policy.
They held a two day conference, for 3000 delegates, at Earls Court.
The organiser needed a flexible event space and environmentally aware venue.
Solution
Marks and Spencer and Fresh were keen to make the event feel as inclusive as possible. Therefore the space was used to emphasise togetherness. Instead of the staid theatre style seating, round tables were used, provoking interaction and a giving a unified feel. Only certain venues can accommodate this and make it such a success.
Marks and Spencer were keen to work with EC&O Venues due to the environmental and sustainability initiatives that we have in place. In addition to the extensive on-site waste management programmes, EC&O Venues has a dedicated sustainability advisor, Emma Wellman, who chairs the Association of Event Venues (AEV) Sustainability Working Group. 56.12% of waste was recycled and reused.
Result
90% of delegates strongly agreed with the quote “I think the overall event was excellent”.
Julie Besbrode, Director of the organising agency Fresh, had this to say: “Not only was this event great to work on, and clearly very successful, it was also completely in keeping with Earls Court’s focus on sustainability and wider social corporate responsibility issues. The powerful and focused experience that was delivered to delegates is a stand-out example of best practice in teamwork between venue and organiser. We look forward to more of the same.”
